The stainless steel 1.25L bread tin has been specially designed to work in any of Mr D’s Energy Saving Thermal Cookers. It will also fit perfectly in the Thermos 4.5L Shuttle Chef.

Bread making in a thermal cooker is ideal for anyone who does not have a source of fresh bread. By using Mr D’s Easy Bread Recipe it allows you to cook a loaf without power overnight so when you awake in the morning there is a freshly baked loaf for your breakfast.

Mr D's Cake Tin for the Mr D's Thermal Cooker

The Mr D’s Cake Tin is designed for use with 4.5L Mr D’s Energy Saving Thermal Cooker. WITH FREE WIRE TRIVET 

The Mr D’s Bread Tin is designed to use 250 to 300g of flour. Bread mixes such as those from Wrights work very well in Mr D’s Thermal Cooker but you will need to use just 300g of the packet.

Apart from making bread the Mr D’s Bread Tin is very useful if you are making meat loaves or vegetarian bakes.

The lid has a deep lip and solid hold down clips to minimise any steam or liquid entering.

The internal edges are all smooth so that it operates very much like a mould and the meal can be easily slipped out as required.

This cake tin come with a FREE wire trivet which you will need to help maximise the amount of water (the heat source for cooking) around the tin.

Mr D’s – Easy Bread in a Mr D’s Bread Tin

Ingredients

  • 125g strong white bread flour, plus extra for dusting
  • 125g strong wholemeal flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 5gm fast-action dried yeast
  • 3/4 tbsp clear honey
  • 175ml warm water
  • butter or spread to grease the tin
  • Mr D’s Bread Tin
  • Trivet for the Mr D’s Bread Tin

Preparation method

  1. Cut a parchment (baking paper) base lining for the bread tin. Grease the tin, not forgetting the lid. Place the cut out parchment into the base.
  2. Sift the flours into a large bowl and reserve the grain the brown bits that are too big to fit through the sieve.
  3. Add the salt and yeast and mix well.
  4. Make a hole in the centre and pour in the honey and slightly warm water.
  5. Mix well with a wooden spoon to form a smooth dough.
  6. Dust your hands with flour and remove the dough. Shape the dough to fit the greased bread tin and place it in. Dust the top with the grain husks that you sieved earlier.
  7. Put on the lid. Put a trivet in the inner pot of Mr D’s Thermal Cooker and add 1 cup of boiling water. Place the bread tin on the trivet, put on the lid. Put the inner pot into the insulated outer container and shut the lid.
  8. Leave for about 45 minutes to allow the bread to rise.
  9. Once risen, remove the inner pot from the outer container and pour in boiling water until the water comes about 3/4 of the way up the side of the bread tin.
  10. Put the inner pot on a heat source and bring gently back to the boil.
  11. Once boiling turn the heat down so the water in just simmering. Do not let it boil as there is a possibility that water will get into the bread tin.
  12. Simmer for 15 minutes with the inner pot lid on.
  13. Turn off the heat and place the inner pot into the insulated outer thermal cooking pot.
  14. Shut the lid and leave to thermal cook without power for a minimum of four hours. It can be left overnight.
  15. Once cooked remove the tin from the inner pot and carefully take off the lid.
  16. Leave for a few minutes then run a knife carefully around the edge of the bread and turn out onto a rack.
