Description

Mr D's £L Thermal Cooker baseThis  Mr D’s 3L Thermal Cooker is suitable for 2 to 4 people and due to the cast iron ring on the base of the inner pot can still hold it’s temperature for up to 6 hours when 50% full. The cooker is so efficient that it will continue boiling once placed into the insulated outer container for around 5 minutes and this ensures maximum start temperature for powerless cooking.

Mr D's £L Thermal Cooker handlesThe outer container has built in handles for easy carrying and these fold flat when not in use. The outer container like the Mr D’s 4.5L Thermal Cooker has a vacuum in the twin stainless steel walls of the out container. This form of insulation is still the most efficient form available.

Mr D's £L Thermal Cooker clips

The lid of the outer container locks for safe carrying and storage in your boat, motorhome or caravan.

IMPORTANT: This cooker like Le Creuset pans has a cast iron base so it MUST always be put into the outer container when hot or placed on a suitable trivet as if put directly on a work surface it will burn it.

Mr D’s Top Pot

Mr D's Top Pot

The Mr D’s Top pot is the number one accessory for the Mr D’s Energy Saving Thermal Cooker because of the extra flexibility it gives.

Being a separate cooking pot with a lid the Mr D’s Top Pot enables you to cook two types of meals at the same time. For example you could cook rice, or a pudding in the Top Pot with your main meal underneath.

When you are cooking a small amount.

When cooking for 2 or 3 people the Mr D’s Top Pot can also help to ensure enough volume (we recommend the thermal cooker it be at least 80% full for maximum heat retention) in the inner pot to get the longest cooking time. By putting your meal in the inner pot and placing the Mr D’s Top Pot filled with boiling water above this will enable you to achieve the 80% volume.

Where only some members of the family are vegetarian.

The Mr D’s Top Pot is also very popular with families where one member is a vegetarian and the other is not as you can cook the two types of meals at the same time but separate from each other.

MR D’s Top Pot specifications

  • the top pot is made from stainless steel
  • heat source – it has a triple base with an insert so it will work on all types of heat sources including induction

After a long time in the shall I/shan’t I category I decided to be decisive and purchase the 3L with top pot. I also bought the cake tin with trivet “just in case”.
This is probably the most useful thing I have bought for years. First things first-yes, it really does work! In my first week I have done the obvious beef stew, chicken stew, and curry, all of which were superb. The meat remains full of flavour and melts in the mouth. The vegetables retain their colour and they taste wonderful. I then tried a beef brisket pot roast followed by a whole chicken. This is now the only way I will cook these as the results were nothing short of amazing.
In the past week I have made four sponge cakes. These have got better with practise and I now am in the habit of cooking a simple sponge cake overnight! My next experiment will be bread. If it is as successful as everything else I have tried I will be over the moon. For all of you people out Ther thinking about getting one of these….do it! I am away with my Dandy camper as soon as Lockdown2 permits and shall be putting a stew in my Mr D’s before I set off secure in the knowledge that I will have a great meal ready when I arrive on site. A five star product.

I bought this because I eat a lot of casseroles and curries and am fearful that we are heading for a period where power cuts will be an issue. I have a small camping stove and thought I would use that to do the initial heating and the pot to do the rest of the cooking thereby saving gas. But I’ve just tried it out and I can honestly tell you that I’ll be using it a lot whether or not we have a power cut. It cooks stews and curries beautifully. Mine stays hot for circa eight hours in a kitchen that hovers around 16 degrees Fahrenheit (I don’t heat my kitchen) so I can come in from a long walk and eat straight away. It also saves me time because I don’t have to keep nipping into the kitchen and stirring things to stop them sticking.

I’m not new to this way of cooking having used another brand until recently. This cooker is better designed. The handles on the side really make the lifting easier and the removable lid is a real winner for cleaning. The food keeps hotter for longer and tastes divine. I cook this way all the time. Economical with the energy, too. Power cuts don’t worry me. I’m going to recommend these pots to all my friends.

I live on a boat & work from there too. Mr Ds’ cook pot is wonderful! I can start my Dinner at 5pm, leave it cooking with no problems, & dine later when I want to. In these times of increasing costs this is an excellent item!

The thermos pot is absolutely brilliant. I’ve made all sorts from curries, stews, to meat balls, to bread and cake. The chicken loaf was particularly successful and was enough for 3 days for the 2 of us. I’ve just adapted various recipes when we haven’t got all the ingredients. I find chicken cooks really well and is nice and tender. Usually I’ve made enough for 2 days from any of the recipes. This is so good I’m going to buy the 5L pot. One request would be for another cook book.
